Custom Sportster, FL transmission, fresh build by White Mike of Orangevale Choppers (formerly American Motorcycle Service Specialaties)
"The motor is a 1965 900cc XL motor which I built, so it is sound with maybe two miles on it. (test ridden up the street & back - no tags ya know). The tranny is in excellent condition with a freshen up at the same time I did the motor, it is a ratchet lid big twin 4 speed; Basically from the seat post back it is a Panhead chassis and forward it is a Sportster. I cut the original XL tranny housing off of the motor, welded on big twin style motor mount blocks to the back of the case so it bolts in at the back of the motor like a big twin and in front it bolts in like a Sportster. This whole project is a total one off build. I had to fabricate the belt pulley at the motor to be able to match-up the drive train w/ a big twin transmission. The result is a very good drive ratio (tall gears), light enough to still pull very good off the line yet has an excellent highway gear ratio to sustain cruising speeds consistent with bigger bikes. I used a late model rear brake system and most of the rest of the components like seat, foot boards, forward controls and taillight are pure one-of-a-kind fabrication. The headlight is an old Chevrolet, all brass 9" bucket that I modified to accept Halogen lighting. The horn is off some old truck, and even though it is electric, as opposed to air, it is obscenely loud."
