HISTRORIANS REPORT

OUTPOST #1841

February 16, 2010

"Zamora - last Spanish mission - not"

Zamora... the last planned Spanish mission to be built as the valley needed a mission to tame the Indians, but too many white settlers were already there and with the flooding in Sacramento, Benicia was chosen as the site of the last mission in California. Had Zamora been chosen as the site it could have easily become the largest Northern California city. It was also noted that Zamora is in the JAS area and might be a good plaque site.
